Evacuees left stranded by Matthew Pierce

In Austin, Texas today evacuees are facing food and supply shortages as they attempt to rebuild their lives from hurricane Ike. Officials from Red Cross, United Way and Austin area food bank are becoming aggressive and are in despite need of food and supplies. Over the past few days all three agencies have organized food and clothing drives at various locations throughout the Greater Austin region and each group sites nominal results. And with evacuees being forced settle in for the long haul here in Austin, charitable groups are worrying what they will do and attempting to get people on board to help their fellow man out. "We made a mistake" say Henry Ramirez of the Central Texas chapter of the Red Cross. "We thought we had enough food and supplies on Monday to fully support the evacuees. We flat out asked people to stop donating food and clothing. They did. We made a mistake." A press release was made to local media Monday here in Austin saying exactly that, and the Red Cross said they had plenty of volunteers also and asked people to hold off on submitting volunteer applications. It was not only the local Red Cross chapter that made the claim of having enough food for all the evacuees. The Austin Area food bank also asked people to stop giving donations on Monday saying they thought they had plenty. Max Taylor of the Austin Area food bank says "You know, our situation was, we were getting so much from the great people of Austin that we just had no room. What we meant was we just ran out of room for all of the food." After touring the facility on Monday it is plain to see that the Austin area food bank was full to capacity of donated items, but today when we were allowed access it was obvious that they had started running out of food. Austin area food bank worked with local media and other outlets to once again start building up their supplies and stockpiles of food for evacuees by holding numerous food drives throughout the area. The shortage of food for evacuees has thrown another blow to them. "How can this happen? I mean they knew there was a disaster going and they tell people that they had enough food. Give me a break! I thought it was a bad call when I saw it on the news Monday night. How and why did this happen? This is my question" says Cameron Falls of Surfside Beach, Texas who was evacuated to Austin one week ago to flee hurricane Ike. Her thoughts were repeated by evacuees and donors alike. "They put it out on the news the other day that they had enough food to go around and now they don't? How does this happen?" says Elizabeth Dowdy an Austin area food donor we spoke with. "We want to help, at least those who want to help themselves you know. How can we do that if we don't know what they need" says Dowdy. No matter who is to blame or how this happened the fact still remains for those in need, the food supplies are short. The Austin Area food bank, united way and Red Cross still need food and monetary support. All three agencies are set to issue apologies for their actions this week and are attempting to regain lost support and increase donations so that they can continue providing food for evacuees here in Austin. Red Cross, Austin food bank and united way advise for those wishing to make contributions to please look at their respected websites for information on donating food, supplies or money. And all 3 insist they will continue to meet the needs of people as long as the food holds out.

10 Overused Words in Writing by David Bowman

All words are good words. Some, however, are overused without adding value to what you write. As a result, they reduce the readers’ interest, make text seem redundant, and cause the writer to appear amateurish.

We have created a list of 10 overused words, based on the documents we have edited over the last 5 years. We don’t recommend that you remove these words from your writing. Instead, we recommend that you become aware of how often you use them and that you revise your documents to limit their use.

1. There
When writers are not sure about the subjects of their sentences, they will often use this word as the subject. This results in weak writing. (For advice on correcting this problem, see our article “Where Is There?”)

Example: “There was no one at home.” This can be revised as “No one was at home.”

2. You
Writers often use this word when referring to general or reoccurring situations. “You” rarely refers to the reader and should be avoided.

Example: “Our grandmother was nice. She always gave you candy.” This can be revised as “Our grandmother was nice. She always gave us candy.”

3. If
Although “if” is a fine word, it is overused by writers trying to describe options and thought processes.

Example: “If she took the bus, she wouldn’t have time to stop by the grocery store.” This can be revised as “Taking the bus would leave her too little time to stop by the grocery store.”

4. When
Readers realize that actions can occur at the same time, which is what the word “when” indicates. Thus, “when” is usually unnecessary.

Example: “When she opened the door, she saw blood on the floor.” This can be revised as “She opened the door and saw the blood on the floor.” Some writers use “when” to describe actions that cannot occur at the same time, as in “When she woke up, she made coffee.” Actually, she first wakes up and then makes the coffee. This can be revised as “She woke up and made the coffee.”

5. As
We once worked on a book in which the author used this word repeatedly to describe the timing of actions, often 3 or 4 times in one paragraph.

Example: “He was shouting ‘Follow me!’ as he ran down the road.” This can be revised as “He ran down the road shouting ‘Follow me!’ ”

6. Very
Mark Twain made this comment about using “very”: “Substitute ‘damn’ every time you're inclined to write ‘very’; your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.” “Very” is a crutch for finding the right word to describe what you mean to say. Find the right word.

Example: “He was very old.” This can be revised as “He was ancient.”

Also, in this example, you can simply write, “He was old,” and then provide text to further explain what you mean by “old.” For example, you could write, “He was old. He walked hesitantly, knowing that his brittle bones would surely break were he to stumble over an unseen obstacle.”

7. Really
Generally, this word can be removed without changing the meaning of a sentence. Anything that is true is also really true.

Example: “He was really nervous about speaking in public.” This can be revised as “He was nervous about speaking in public.” To show a greater degree, use a different word, as in “He was panicky about speaking in public” or “Public speaking scared him.”

8. Am/Is/Are/Was/Were (“to be” verbs)
Action verbs are always preferable to state-of-being verbs. Use words that describe the action occurring. Rather than saying what something/someone is, show the reader what something/someone does.

Example: “I am envious of her success.” This can be revised as “I envy her success.”

Example: “She was dressed in leather chaps and a flannel shirt.” This can be revised as “She wore leather chaps and a flannel shirt.”

9. So
See #7. “So” is also overused as a conjunction.

Example: “Her face was inches from his own, so he leaned forward and kissed her.” This can be revised as “Her face was inches from his own. He leaned forward and kissed her.”

10. Because
This word is overused to provide explanations. To fix this, use the word “and” with action verbs.

Example: “He wanted to go to the fair because his friends would be there.” This can be revised as “He wanted to go to the fair and meet with his friends.”

Example: “I want to leave because I am tired.” This can be revised as “I’m tired and want to leave.”

Getting Started with Article Writing for Your Business by Jeff Wolfgang

The World Wide Web loves content. Good quality content will not only give other websites a natural reason to link to your site, quality content articles may also be submitted to numerous other websites, many of which do not mind the inclusion of a simple one or two links back to your website. After all, your content benefits them by giving people more of a reason to visit their website.

While recognizing the need for good articles and content is one thing, actually sitting down and writing them is another. For many people, this phase of the process is so frustrating that it becomes easy to put off, leaving us choosing instead to just sit back and wait for one of those rare "eureka" moments to get the ball rolling.

One thing that is sure to prove helpful in getting you started is a working list. This list can act as a simple place to organize any ideas that you or your colleagues get from time to time. Start a suggestion box open to company employees and make the list available amongst them to read. Oftentimes a handful of good ideas can spring from just one simple idea that someone else has come up with. Some of those employees may even take it amongst themselves to write an article on a topic that they feel confident discussing on a professional level.

Some of the ideas you come up with could be in regards to new technologies or events pertaining to your industry. If your website sells products, you may also want to write articles that explain to your customers how to use or assemble the products you sell. At the Computer Cable Store for example, you will find articles explaining how to terminate network patch cables from a reel of bulk cable.

Brainstorm, and before you know it, you'll be well on your way to having a good, high quality collection of useful articles for your website and, in turn, a natural growth of unique and repeat visitors as well.

3 Most Important Tips for You of Article Marketing by harmnajit

Article marketing is one of the standards in online marketing. Undoubtedly it is a powerful tool to promote your business. You can create articles and submit them to the article directories. If you can do it well, you can build up your image as an expert in your industry. You will have unfair advantage over your competition if you can become an authority in your industry.

Besides, since most article directory will allow you to put contact information or website URLs in the articles, you will be able to promote your products or websites directly in the article. It will be very useful if you promote your affiliate using articles.

As discussed, you can put the links to your website in the articles. This will help to boost your search engine ranking too. As you may probably know the number of back links to your site plays a significant role in determining the ranking of your website. The links in the articles are in fact back links to your site and this will help a lot if you are doing search engine optimization. You can bear the following in mind when you are writing the articles.

1. The resource box or bio box: You will most probably include the URLs of your website in the resource box. As a matter of fact some article directory will only allow you to put links or URLs in the resource box. At the point you will understand that the bio box plays a very important role in your article marketing campaign. Normally, you will only be allowed to have three to four sentences in the bio box.

It is suggested that you put your name or the author name in the bio box. And of course you will also put the URLs and links of your website in the bio box. Some people will choose no to put their names in the bio box but some directories may reject your article if you do not put your author name in it. As a result, it is still better to do that in order to reduce the possibility of being rejected.

2. Article content: Without any surprise, the content of the article is also very important. The article should be informative and useful to the readers. Remember that the aim of submitting articles is to build up your image as an expert in your industry. You will fail to do so if your articles are just rubbish to the readers. As a result you should pay extra attention to the content.

As a small piece of advice you can use product reviews as the content of your articles. Of course you may not be able to have all the articles in product reviews. You may also try to write some latest news on your field of business. People will love to read the news because they would like to know the latest trend in the business.

3. Article submission: There are virtually thousands of article directories on the internet. Some people will decide to manually submit to these directories one by one. However, it is suggested that you should save your time and leave the submission work to the others. You may join some article distribution services in this case. There are also a lot of freelance people and companies who will submit the articles for you manually in a reasonable price.

Not only does this help build trust and credibility but it will also attract tons of keyword based traffic from the search engines. Use eBooks. This is a great viral technique that actually delivers. The idea is to position all your popular articles in an eBook that can be branded and distributed, for people to read refer to as many times as they want. Use Affiliates: If you have affiliates, allow them to brand your articles using their affiliate IDs and promote the articles for you. In other words, use your affiliates resources to market your articles as well. Cross Link Your Articles. This means, you should cross reference your articles by placing links to your other articles in the article you are creating. If your link placement makes sense and content is helpful and not a blatant promotion of your other articles, then, there should be no reason why ezine webmasters or editors should object to your doing this. So, to conclude, follow the above mentioned article marketing tips in mind and discover the true power of article marketing.

Business people are still lousy KISSers, by Jo-Rosie Haffenden

New research reveals that an inability or reluctance to use plain English - or to keep it short and simple (KISS) - is still the single greatest barrier to good business writing.

The findings by Emphasis, who have been training business people how to write for over eight years, show that a staggering 99 per cent of the pre-training documents they receive from clients contain unnecessary business-jargon or overly-long and complicated words and phrases. And for 63 per cent of people, this failure to KISS represents one of the three biggest challenges to improving their business writing.*

The research findings coincide with the announcement of the Plain English Campaign's Annual Awards on 12 December, where organisations and individuals are recognised for having 'genuinely made an effort to present themselves using clear and concise English'.

'The research only confirms what we already knew from working with a broad range of blue chip companies and public sector organisations,' says Emphasis chief executive, Robert Ashton. 'Despite the odd refreshing example of an individual or organisation really embracing the KISS principle, using plain English remains the exception rather than the rule.'

So why can't business people KISS? A major issue is the popular misconception that long words and elaborate phrases are somehow a sign of superior intellect or professionalism. But people are inundated with documents to read (an average company with 5000 employees produces a staggering 78 pieces of writing every minute). They are also overworked and short of time so they don't want to have to translate complicated words and phrases; they just want to get to the point. 'And this is only half the story,' says Ashton. 'The other problem is management speak and buzz words. People are tired of reading about 'synergy' and 'excellence', while 'cutting edge' or 'innovative' products and services are ten-a-penny these days. And as for 'raising the bar' and 'low-hanging fruit', the first thing to spring to mind is some kind of tropical limbo challenge. 'People sometimes think that using plain English represents some kind of 'dumbing down'. But short words are not lightweight or less useful. In fact, they're often more powerful. It's just a case of having the confidence to use them.'

Secrets You Must Know About Successful Article Marketing by Jo Mark

Once you are done with setting up your website, you've got to work on promoting it. There isn't a better way to promote your product or entire site, than with article marketing. And the best part of it is that this technique won't cost you a penny and will produce great results over a very long period of time.

Some of the truly helpful tricks are mentioned here, which will take your website traffic to new heights and will not require the services of expensive SEO companies to do it. First and the foremost, ensure that your articles are free from any typing and spelling errors. This can quickly turn off readers and cause them to quickly click away. If your articles are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors, you can be certain that a large portion of your audience will not read far enough to see your links. This is easily avoided by using a good spelling and grammar checker. Most word processors come with this feature, so make sure you use it.

The next important feature is an eye catching title. The title is the advertising for your work. So even if you have written the world's greatest article, if the title is boring, readers will never see it. Spend some time designing an eye catching and enticing title, it will pay off big time.

Another important aspect is the selection of a good targeted topic. Highly targeted articles always get more page views than broad generic ones.

Also remember to keep your articles short and sweet. In this fast paced society, time is at a premium. They didn't click on your article to read a novel.

Moreover never steal someone else's work. It is illegal and can carry stiff legal penalties.

And last but not least; research other articles that you have written. Determine which ones received the most page views and write more articles like that. Give your audience what they want and success will surely follow.

Try these tricks the next time you write an article and watch your page views increase. Do you want to learn more about how I make money? I have just completed a Free ebook entitled, How To Make Money Every Day!

How to keep writing regardless of how you feel. by PETER FREDERICK

I have discovered a system that helps me cope with my various moods I am in when sitting down and trying to write on my manuscript. Being a busy author of books, short stories and poetry, this stands me in good stead and I am very happy to pass this on to fellow writers. My new method is especially helpful when having to write about so-called boring subjects, like long descriptions or uneventful scenes. If you are like me, obsessed with writing, pouring out thoughts and ideas on paper, we have many obstacles to face " all the way to the printed publication! Laboring under the requirements of strict discipline, this new method entails working with ‘snippets’! The first hurdle is one of motivation or writer’s block. We are not always the same person but may feel differently at various times of the day. In my case, for example, having scribbled or typed away busily, as per synopsis, character outline and chapter outline, suddenly a kind of slump set is. I may not feel inclined to deal with a certain situation right now or my mood is suddenly for writing a different encounter which may come much later in my work. However, we have a story to follow, that is, as per our chapter outline. It is sometimes difficult to concentrate on dealing with an incident whilst our mind is already racing away, far ahead of our story. Still perusing the chapter outline of the future book, I have the habit of writing in manuscript mode any detail I just feel like writing about. Whatever comes to my mind and in whatever mood I am at the moment. This is what I term the ‘creative moment’ and it should not be resisted or suppressed by forcing oneself to write about something else as we would lose what I term ‘quality’. Having finished this piece of writing, I title this paper ‘snippet number 1’, underneath, I state the subject or topic and the result of my word count. After which I file it away in a document file called ‘snippets’. These snippets do not need to be filed in any particular sequence, however, they will arraign themselves numerically in their document folder. And now, I glance at my chapter outline to select another subject I feel like writing about. Of course, I mark off my chapter outline the incident I have just put on paper and it always gives me satisfaction to see the marked sections grow and the subjects I still have to write about slowly diminish. Once every incident and chapter is dealt with, I then start with the actual manuscript. Having first established my header and footer and taken care of the page numbering, I simply paste the snippets in the correct sequence into my manuscript. This done, I read through everything and sometimes need to ‘cement’ the various snippets together with the correct words and phrases. And the total word count of all the snippets will inform you whether your publication is voluminous enough for your planned end result. This method of working with ‘snippets’ works very well for me as no precious writing time is lost and I can only recommend it to anybody who wishes to establish a kind of order or system in the creation of a very special piece of literature! How To Freshen Stale Metaphors by Thomas Christopher

One of the most powerful ways to communicate your ideas compactly and vividly is to use a metaphor or one of its cousins, simile or analogy.

A metaphor is a non-literal use of language. A metaphor says that one thing is another, quite different sort of thing. To be a metaphor, it must literally not be true. Paradoxically, in its non-literal-truth, metaphor is the most effective way to communicate deeper truths.

We use metaphors to make the abstract seem concrete; to make the unknown seem familiar; to help us to feel that we understand mysterious things, to feel that we can reason about them, to feel comfortable with them. Public speakers use metaphor to craft a "phrase that pays"--the message their audience will take with them. Comedians use metaphor for one-liners. All speakers and writers use metaphor to seek immortality on the pages of Bartlett's.

Shakespeare is remembered for his metaphors:

"This bud of love by summer’s ripening breath / May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet."

"All the world's a stage, / And all the men and women merely players; / They have their exits and their entrances" "Juliet is the sun."

Not all metaphors are powerful. With use, a metaphor can become stale. With extensive use, it can die as a metaphor and take on a literal meaning, as the word "star" in "she is a star."

It is possible to refresh stale metaphors and revive dying ones by simply asking, "What kind of?"

To show how that's done, I devoted about a half an hour while stretched out in my recliner to finding interesting ways to use the metaphor, LIFE IS A STORY. First I asked, "What kind of story?" and I got "a work of fiction" and "a play." From these I also got "a book," which isn't built on LIFE IS A STORY, but I'm not going to turn down metaphors because they were not precisely what I was seeking. Those, however, didn't go far enough. I had to ask again, "What kind of...?": "What kind of a work of fiction?", "What kind of a play?", "What kind of a book?" I got somewhere around two dozen metaphors. Here I'll share six of them just as I wrote them. They can all use refinement and editing.

"My life story would be more interesting if I would allow my protagonist to get hurt."

"Life is a book of recipes: What sounds good? What do I have the ingredients for?"

"It's a fairy-tale life: a sane person, a crazy world."

"I'm waiting for financial backing before staging my life."

"Some are actors. Some are audience. Some are prompters clutching last year's script." (I've used this for a T-shirt design.)

"When your life is a play that's been savaged by critics, refuse to close."

There you have it: by asking, "What kind of...?" you can quickly find an abundance of fresh metaphors to choose among. Not all will be winners, of course, but the odds of finding a winner in two dozen is much greater than finding it in a single stale metaphor.

How To Bend The Rules While Using PLR Articles by Amit patil

Article marketing was all the rage a couple of years ago, and it still is up till this day, because of one simple reason: content is king on the Internet.

So how do you create your own articles?

There are a number of ways to do it. You can visit the various Internet marketing forums and collect ideas from there. You can gather a few articles together, extract information here and there, and compile them together into a brand new article. Or you can take the easy way out and pay someone else to do it for you.

All of the above methods do have their short-comings. If you are writing your own article, you would need plenty of time to do the research. If you are paying someone to write for you, the end product may not be what you desired.

So is there a better and faster way to create your articles?

Yes, of course. I am sure that you have heard of PLR products. So what exactly are PLR products? They are actually ready made products that come with private label rights. So if you can lay your hands on a PLR product, then you have exclusive ownership of that product. You can then use it anyway as you wish: change the packaging, the title, the contents, you can do just about anything you want with that product.

PLR articles are hot items on the Internet at the moment, with many membership sites offering such articles for a monthly fee. Depending on the owner of the site, you can get up to 30, 50 or even hundreds of PLR articles every month, and each of them has a word count of between 400 to 800 words.

But then again, nothing is perfect, and the same can be said of PLR articles. Although such articles can seem to be very handy, they do have their limitations.

1. Duplicate content

With so many other members using the same PLR articles, it is inevitable that two or more members are going to use the same articles for content on their website, resulting in duplicate content. And this is where the problem starts.

The search engines do not allow duplicate content, so if a PLR article is used as such by two or more owners of the same, all the affected websites will be penalized, and their page rank will suffer as a result.

2. The restrictions of article directories

Users of PLR articles often submit such articles to article directories. Big mistake, because article directories simply do not accept PLR articles, and will ban member accounts if they are caught submitting such articles.

The above are two very unfavorable limitations that restrict the potential of PLR articles. So what can be done to bend the rules?

The solution is actually quite a simple one. All you need to do is just to modify the articles so that they look unique and different from the rest. You already have the private label rights, remember? So you can make whatever modifications to the PLR articles of your choice.

But of course, you don't just alter a few words here and there, thinking that the job is done. Far from it. Below are some of the article modification techniques that you can use to modify your PLR articles in the best possible way.

1. Modify the title, add an introduction and write your own conclusion.

2. Re-write certain paragraphs, and then rearrange the order to make them look unique.

3. Work backwards. This means that you can use the original article's conclusion as the introduction, and then make use of other parts of the article to lead back to your new introduction.

4. As a rule of thumb, you should make at least 30% - 40% of changes from the original article.

So there you have it. All you need to know to bend the rules when you are using PLR articles. Don't make the whole process look difficult, because modifying an article is all a matter of about 10 to 15 minutes. And that is only a small sacrifice, when you consider the fact that it takes you hours of work just to write your very own article.

It’s amazing how many signs there are that are not translated correctly. There’s actually a website dedicated to showcasing signs that people have found during their travels around the world called engrish.com. You’d think companies would learn from others mistakes and hire a {a href=”http://www.multiling.com/Localization_Company.aspx”}localization company that has {a href=”http://www.multiling.com/Professional_Translation.aspx”}professional translation services to get it right. Well for now, maybe they’ll read this article and look into hiring a professional translation service so they don’t make the same mistakes. Here are my top 20 favorite sign translations gone wrong.

20. A clothing retail store sign in Japan is translated to,“Hitman & Co.” â€" must be owned by the mafia.

19. An orange juice beverage in Japan was translated to, “In love? Be juicy!”

18 . A canned soda beverage in Japan was translated as, “Bottled Water”

17. A lemon soda beverage in Japan has a tag line of, “Relax and Reflesh”

16. Here’s one from a big company, Coca-Cola put out a soft drink called, “Water Salad” â€" I guess they should have hired a Japanese translator for this product.

15. A hotel in Japan is named, “Hotel-Happy-Kiss”

14. A sandwich shop sign in Japan translated to, “Light Drink and Salad, Nice Eat You?”

13. A retail store sign in Tokyo translated to, “Store My Ducks”

12. A hotel sign in Singapore translated to,”Ah Chew Hotel” â€" Bless you.

11. A sushi restaurant’s sign in Japan translated to, “Bar, Sushi and Men”

10. A bathroom sign in Japan translated to, “Beaver Reform Shower”- I’m guessing that was the ladies room?

9. A restaurant sign in Japan with a pink flamingo in the window was translated as, “Framingo”

8. A clothing retail store sign in Japan was translated to, “Cow Poo”

7. A restaurant in a food court located in Japan was translated to, “Terminal Snack Stand” â€" I’m guessing there’s not a loyal customer base.

6. A sign at a Tapioca bar in Yokohama translated to, “Smoking? It’s So oK!”

5. A coffee shop sign in Japan reads, “Climax Coffee” â€" I’ll have a double.

4. A club/bar sign in Japan reads, “Mom’s Mustache”

3. A restroom direction sign in Japan reads, “A toilet gets down from back stone steps, and is in the inner part of a left open space.” â€" Good luck finding that restroom.

2. A restaurant sign found in Shibuya, Tokyo reads, “Ghetto Happy Dining”

And my number one favorite translation sign gone wrong is from a restaurant sign in Japan that reads, “Pride of this store although it makes, 48 hours being required, maturing, increases curry. The seasoning of the secret fully!!. It is useful to appetite increase and physical reconditioning. Recently attention is attracted even with diet. Please appreciate curry of this store.” â€" Huh?

All in all, I guess it’s safe to say that the businesses above did not invest in hiring a localization company that offers professional translation services. The bad news is that they’ve wasted time and money creating signs that are not properly translated. The good news is that they’ve created an avenue of humor for the tourists visiting. So, next time you’re traveling be sure to look around for some of these sign translations gone wrong.

Speak With A British Slang Tend To Over Stress by Adams

If you are a British in America try to speak without the British slang and save quite a big deal of bewilderment. Well, it is not a disease it is just a regional dialect and sometimes you might feel funny and sometimes embarrassed. By all means it becomes enjoyable for a future joke, when you are applying your British slang in a place where it is not used widely. Truly Americans use less slang than the British contrary to popular beliefs but still there is slang for Americans too. Slang changes pretty quickly some term that mean a way 10 years before might not mean the same today. If a British is going to mention knocked up for someone that is rapping on the door to an American, the situation can be funny, because Knock up in American slang means pregnant.

There are many words that are used in American with a totally different pronunciation when put in to use in the British slang like schedule spelt "sh" and schedule "sk" in American. Many Americans that are trying to speak with a British slang tend to over stress on "mahss" and "fahncy" when truly they might not need to be doing it. When we are trying to mimic the British slang without knowing where to place the stress on we tend to kill the richness and naturalness of that speech. Similarly people that are used to British slang if they try to be American they will be using the term "too often" in wrong places!

* CUPPA is a British slang word to say cup tea or. They tend to use it as would you like to have a nice cuppa?

* GIT in British refers to a silly fool

* Full of Beans in British slang refers to someone with loads of energy.

* Loo in British slang refers to a room with a toilet or just a toilet fixture. It is commonly used as going to the Loo.

* Sister in British slang refers to the Nurse.

* Straight away in British slang refers to do something immediately.

* Surgery is a British slang for the doctor's office.

Well, there is truly no complete book that gives a comprehensive explanation of all the British slang in existence. However, learning new slang words can be like remembering a lot of your high school friend who was British! Enjoy learning British Slang with any of the online British slag resource.

Article Marketing: An Easy Way To Get Your Message Out by Tom S Powers

In today's society, there are various types of media available. Among professionals, commercial, and computers it is astonishing how things have transformed into such a technological age. As a result of the different types of media there are now many different forms of advertising technique.

Article marketing is gaining popularity as a technique. Article marketing started so that employers could pick out or write articles that matched the goals, values and purposes of the retailer. Certain industries received a newsletter or other paper version of the articles. The articles were distributes to the companies. One advantage of this technique is that it provides cheap and easy advertising.

From the moment that the concept of article marketing came to be a tool used in online advertising, it continued to evolve and increase in success. Website publishers are generally seeking free website content to upload to their sites, so they are happy to receive marketing articles; a win-win trade.

Article directories are also in greater demand. As material is gathered by site owners, it is widely viewed on their websites. With the growth in the usage of promotional articles, sites get high search engine rankings, generate more traffic, and profit from the pay-per-click arrangement as viewers come to read the new content. Given the constant developments within the internet community, other approaches to marketing this way are sure to make an appearance.

In contrast to the outmoded newspapers, the online world offers several more prospects. Article marketing may as well remain on the edge of evolution to that stage, as there is an increase in social networking sites. Perhaps it could effect likewise to an editorial index with the quantity of consumers that would view an advertisement the manner millions of people make use of social networking sites.

To sum up, methods of marketing have evolved in parallel with progress in the different methods used for marketing itself, including radio and television media, telephone calling, and computers. But articles are still as much a part of advertising as they ever were. As the online universe expands, articles have become an increasingly handy way to reach the buying public.

Varied media have opened a broad range of new marketing possibilities. One seemingly increasing technique is the use of article marketing. The best advantage to this type of advertising is that it is a relatively easy way to get free press;

Learning the Rules of Writing by Deborah Owen

Yes, writing has rules, just like everything else. One of the greatest things about writing is that most people can become good, selling writers in only two years. One of the biggest problems in writing is that most people produce in their spare time and don't try to find their potential.

Many wannabe writers hide behind the excuse that they didn't learn punctuation and English basics well enough in their formative years. If that is your situation, most good schools have brush-up courses for that purpose.

Some students will say they are to old to learn new things, but to that I say, "Bah. Humbug." I have no short-term memory, yet I keep managing to learn as long as I apply myself daily, and I'm closing in on 70 years of age. If I can do it, you most certainly can, too.

Writing is a great hobby. It will give you a chance to spread your wings. Some people will be better at it than others, but that's okay. Give yourself permission to not be at the head of the class. My guess is you won't be at the rear, either.

If you want to learn Short Story writing, a course will teach you how to set a theme, develop a plot, target your audience, and choose your point of view. You will learn how to cast your characters, create good dialog, and use word imagery for settings. Next, you must learn to build the conflict, cut your verbiage, and perhaps most important of all, learn "Show, Don't Tell". There's a lot to short story writing and it's fun.

To learn writing for children (which is not any easier than writing for adults, trust me), you will begin by outlining your story, fleshing out your characters, studying market techniques, building your point of view, Show, Don't Tell, creating good dialog, editing your drafts, polishing your final draft, and creating queries and cover letters.

If you're interested in learning Fantasy writing, you will learn histories of the genre, and subgenres. You will learn how to find inspiration, create fantasy characters, create a fantasy world, and create the elements necessary to transport your readers into a believable atmosphere. You will learn how to outline, create a spell that will enchant your readers, and mix magic potions. You'll learn the difference between fantasy writing, horror writing and sci-fi writing.

Writing will teach you to have a 'tougher skin' so that more advanced students can offer comments on your work. You will learn to profit by it instead of getting hurt and sulking into a corner. As a writer, you must have this attitude. It is one of the few absolutes. Rejection is a large part of writing, and you should know that going in.

I would leave you with one last piece of advice. I thought I was the exception to the rule, and that I could skip ahead to advanced learning because I wanted it bad enough and I had an excellent foundation in English. I was so wrong. I skipped the beginning elements and when I got deeper into advanced writing, I had to take a brush-up course to learn what I had missed. My pride was crushed.

After I had taken a few courses, I realized how they meshed together to create a larger picture, and I learned that skipping any part of the package only caused me grief in the long run. Alas, I saved neither time nor money.

Please - start at the beginning and work your way through the courses patiently. Learn each one well. Study regularly, listen to your mentors, and do extra homework that is above and beyond the call of duty. In this way, you will ensure a writing career that has no holes in its foundation, and you will be fulfilled.

How to Write a White Paper: The Five Laws by Steve Hoffman

White papers can be an effective way to provide the various participants in the sales process with the information they need to make an informed decision about a new purchase, especially when faced with complex business choices. In such cases, potential buyers need more than just a brochure that simply pitches a product’s features and benefits. A well-written marketing or technical white paper (or series of effective white papers) that provides objective, useful information is more likely to be read and influence buying decisions. This article addresses some of the considerations involved in writing white papers that align with specific marketing and sales initiatives. The First Law of How to Write a White Paper: Address the Right Topic Too often, white papers are written in a corporate marketing vacuum, disconnected from real-world sales contexts. And inadvertently, they address topics that neither sales people nor prospective buyers find useful. To close deals, sales people must establish value in the minds of all stakeholders at just the right points in the sales process. Effective white papers can play a critical role in communicating this value, particularly during intermediate sales stages, when customers are considering their options and evaluating technologies. Experience-based knowledge about what real customers are thinking, doing, and asking during the sales process is needed. This is best obtained by involving sales teams early in the white paper definition, scoping, and outlining stages. The Second Law of How to Write a White Paper: Define the Type of White Paper White papers often fail to align with their purpose and role in the sales cycle because the wrong vehicle is chosen for delivering their message. Avoiding this pitfall is simply a matter of proper white paper definition. White papers vary in their structure, and the best type of white paper to accomplish goals and appeal to stakeholders should be carefully considered. Some of the most common technical white paper types include technology briefings, buyer’s guides, planning and implementation guides, application guides, and case studies. Common business marketing white paper types include business implication discussions, strategy discussions, industry trend overviews, and issues analyses. In some cases, selecting a single white paper type is most suitable, while in others, combining white paper types into a single document may be appropriate. The Third Law in Writing White Papers: Define the Right Amount of Technical Detail in the White Paper A white paper that glosses over the details of how an offering helps solve a business problem is little more than a lengthy brochure. By contrast, a document that focuses solely on technical detail without placing the offering in a larger business context fails to make a persuasive case. Effective white papers explain innovative technologies in a compelling way that helps potential customers understand both how and why the offering will benefit them. The Fourth Law in Writing White Papers: Ensure White Paper Objectivity Biased information alienates readers and instills doubt about the paper’s validity. Instead of including unsubstantiated claims about a specific offering’s suitability and benefits, an effective white paper educates the audience about the problem or issue, as well as potential solutions to their problems. To further strengthen the credibility of the business case and to demonstrate the technical prowess of the offering, white paper writers should cite third-party sources, such as analyst research or industry reports, whenever possible. The Fifth Law of How to Write a White Paper: Use a Company with Proven Writing Services Writing a marketing or technical white paper is not easy. Even with the best white paper plan, a white paper is doomed to failure if the writer lacks the exceptional writing skills, technical savvy and marketing experience that these documents require. The task of writing white papers requires communication skills that differ significantly from those required for marketing and advertising copy or for technical documents such as user manuals and training materials. Writers at companies with proven writing services can select and synthesize highly technical information from a variety of sources, and then clearly communicate the wealth of detail without condescending to the audience or making unreasonable assumptions about the reader’s prior knowledge. Often, a talented white paper writer can provide the greatest benefit. If a qualified internal writer is not available, consider outsourcing the task to professionals who specialize in white paper writing services. These professionals are also usually able to help define white paper scope, type, and applications. By incorporating these five sound principles into white paper writing, companies can produce effective white papers that prove their solutions’ business and technical validityâ€"and improve chances for success.

Why Write? by Deborah Owen

The world is full of literature. Everywhere we look, we see novels, magazines, anthologies, genealogies, journals, newspapers, advertising - the list is endless.

Sometimes it seems almost useless to add to the heap of existing literature, but don't give in to feelings of frustration or discouragement. What is inside you is unique. It is exhilarating. There are no two people in the world with the same fingerprints, and no two people who have the same effect on others.

What do you spend your time thinking about? More than likely, someone else is writing about it, but they aren't presenting it with the same angle that you would. It is this angle that makes what you have to say important. But that is only one of the reasons why you should write.

Some people like to keep a journal, log, or diary, and many have joined the new age of blogging. Did you ever ask yourself why so many people read blogs? It's because people are nosey, and they want to know what is going on in someone else's life. They want the dirt on them. The same curiosity that brings them to your blog will also bring them to your articles and/or short stories.

Many take up writing as a hobby, just to put their thoughts in order and express them publicly. Some have no interest whatever in presenting their work for publication, while others write only for publication. No matter what kind of writing you like, you will find that writing is fulfilling.

You may even find that you would like to take a writing class to whet your talents and learn better how to phrase your thoughts. It is this skill of stringing words together in the right order that will make your writing go to the next level.

Too many writers let their busy lives pull them away from the thing that will satisfy them the most. Don't let that happen to you. Almost anyone can afford a nominally priced writing course.

The best type to choose is the one that has a mentor. Teachers will tell you what is right and wrong, but mentors are available all week long to help you improve your writing style.

If you think you have no talent for writing, but would like to give it a try, please do. You'll be glad you did. The very fact that you have a desire to write says you probably have latent talents waiting to be developed. Most people who want to write can write.

Taking classes is an excellent way to crank yourself into first gear and start a long journey. You've heard of "use it or lose it". That is true of almost anything. If you smother the desire to write, it may never resurface. You will never know what you could have done, what mile markers you could have left behind, what influence you might have had, and what enjoyment has passed you by.

Move into action and find what suits you best - one day workshops are for beginners, and will cover only the highlights. Three-day workshops (for beginners and brush-ups) are more intensive with two lessons that cover basic rules for the subject chosen. Two-week courses are very intensive and require a lot of time. (For intermediates.) Eight-week courses are for age 14 and up. These classes will help you produce a story or article for publication.

Plunge in for a cool, refreshing dip, and give yourself the opportunity to find a new, exciting door to a more bountiful life.

Article Writing - 4 Steps to Writing An Article by Janet Simpson

I like article marketing because I know when people click on to my link and go to my site, they are already interested in what I have to say.

They like my style and they like it enough to click on to my bio at the bottom of each article, and you can develop the same relationship with your subscribers if you use article marketing to generate massive traffic.

Article marketing is simply the process of writing articles that match the subject matter of your website. When you've created your articles, you submit them for publication online.

There are hundreds of article directories online whose sole purpose is to publish your content which means more and more people have the opportunity to look at your products and services.

So when you are drafting your articles, it is very important that you include a compelling link within your bio so that people can visit your site or register onto your squeeze page. You need to get into the habit of writing informative articles about the topic of your site. It is important that you offer valuable information in your articles because then your potential customer will be able to evaluate the quality of your material.

So how do you write a good, quality article?

1 - Choose a topic. This must be related to your website, so if you have a website that gives information on mobile phones, then it is important that your article looks at some aspect of the mobile phone industry. A typical topic might be how to choose the right mobile phone, the best brand for your needs or choosing the best rates for your personal requirements. Just choose a topic people ask questions about quite regularly.

2 - Writing the article. Choose a title and write the article. Once you have a title for the article, it is very, very important that the content of your article matches the title of the article. The reader has clicked your article because they found the title of the article enticing. They want to learn more.

3 - Write quality content - It is important that your article is organized. You want your article to flow naturally. Your article would be more effective if you included a list in the general body of your article, as this makes reading the article easier. So highlight five or six key points about your mobile phone, and then complete the article with a conclusion.

4 - When you are writing your article, use friendly, easy-to-read language. Do not include complicated and difficult-to-understand words. Imagine you are drinking a cup of coffee with a friend outside a coffee shop on a sunny day. Your articles should be between 350 and 450 words in length, as this is the number that most reputable directories will accept.

5 - Add a biography. This biography is very important because this is where your reader has the opportunity to click and visit your website for more information.

Article marketing is not something that you do once and sit back for the results. It is important that you write your articles often and in a systematic manner. It is time-consuming, but it is worth all the effort. Imagine in 12 weeks' time that you have dramatically increased your income by $1,000 per week. Isn't that worth writing articles for? So get started.

Article Writing - How to Structure a Good Article by Janet Simpson

As you may or may not know, there are two main reasons for writing and promoting articles, and these are:

1) to generate back links for search engine optimization; and

2) to create direct traffic to your website or squeeze page.

If you've never written an article before or you have difficulty at structuring one on a regular basis, here are some key tips.

Here are some suggestions which will help make article marketing a little easier for you.

1 - When it comes to drafting an article title, try to use a title that has not been used previously online. This way, you can track the propagation of your article quite easily.

Type the name of the article title into the major search engines and see what you get as a result. If your new title comes up with 'no result', then it is fine to use this title for an article.

Once you have created and submitted your articles, after a week or so, because your title was unique, it will be easy for you to learn how many sites have downloaded your article. Do this about once or twice a month, and you will be pleased at the results.

2 - You should write about something that you have quite a bit of knowledge of because if you do not have some knowledge you will not have the vocabulary to write about it.

3 - Your writing should be easy and comfortable. You do not have to complicate it by trying to use words that even you find difficult to understand. Your article must be easy to read. If your reader has difficulty in reading it they will click away.

4 - Write short articles. Your articles should be between 350 and 450 words. Most of the reputable article directories will accept this number of words.

5 - It is important that you include an enticing link to your site at the end of each article. You could do this by offering a free e-book or product in the bio.

So you see, writing articles does not have to be difficult at all. It is just a question of getting into the habit and getting into the routine. You might find it strange at first, but within a very short space of time, you should be able to draft your articles as easily as writing a letter.

A Step By Step Guide To A Successful Writing Formula Outcome by Charlie Stelfox

Success leaves clues and you should be able to follow them. You can take the easy way or the hard way it really doesn't matter to anyone else in the world. But I should rather say you can take the smart way or the other way.

I don't like to berate people so I won't. Reading this article will allow you to follow a successful step by step guide to a writing formula that works. I know that because I follow it each and every time I write an article and get tremendous results.

So here is a 3 step process that if you follow you will receive the recognition that you want to have.

Step 1. When writing your articles make sure that you target your audience. If you've done your homework then you should know your audience, the language that they speak, and what problems plague them. Taking the time to find out about your target audience will show through your writings and people will be able to get a sense of oneness with your writings and understand that you know what they are going through.

Step 2. Keep their attention piqued.

Writing an article that keeps a readers interest is important. Without that curiosity that people have in wanting to know more about what you have to say is part art and part foundational knowledge. Doing your homework will be paid back in the form of your knowledge when you write about the niche topic at hand. Having this mindset into writing your articles will allow you to get the words out in a flowing manner.

Step 3. Keep the readers interest at heart.

If you understand that the only reason that people read your articles is because they want to know what is in it for them? If you keep that in mind then you can write your articles towards that end. You need to entice the readers with a little information and if they want more then offer them more. You offer them more through your website that promises to give them information and if you're done your job properly they will click through to your site naturally.

Article Writing can Help Your Online Business by Joseph McCumber

Is your website dying? Is it just sitting there in an internet desert, shriveling up because of a lack of traffic? Can you hear the wind whistling over the emptiness? Yikes! Don't jump off a bridge just yet. Find out how writing short articles and submitting them to directories can save you from ruin.

This is the way article writing works. You have a website devoted to, well, let's say rabbits. You write a short article of about 400 to 500 words that explains how to treat a sick rabbit. You submit your article to free article directories.

Next, somebody comes along looking for information about their sick pet rabbit. Presto! Your article pops up on the search engine, giving valuable information that allows the reader to save the bunny's life. Now you have a happy person who is eager to purchase whatever you recommend.

Okay, so it doesn't work quite like that. But, if done properly, article writing and marketing will bring a flood of free, targeted traffic to your website. Follow these simple steps to get started:

1. Write a title with keywords related to your website. The first three to four words in your title are the best place to have your keywords.

2. Compose an introductory paragraph that gets the reader's attention and gives some information about the subject of the article. If you can make it seem natural, use your keywords in the introduction.

3. Use the next 300 or so words in the article body to give the information promised by the title and the introduction. Use your keywords once or twice, but try to use them without breaking up the flow of the article. Keep your paragraphs short and to the point.

4. Use your last paragraph as the article conclusion. Explain how using the information you've just written about will benefit the reader in some way. Try to find a way to include your keywords one more time.

5. Put a link back to your website in the resource box. Try to add a little zip. Rather than writing "for more information, visit my website," try offering a more urgent reason for the reader to click on your website link. Something like, "My site can save your rabbit's life!" You get the idea.

There you have it. Have I done what I set out to do? Have I shown you how writing short articles can save your website? If you think so, then I've just given you an article template to follow. I hope it helps.

Money For Writing Online by Heather David

I'm not normally the sort of person who goes online to

reccomend a product to someone. Even on ebay I don't write much about

the sellers I buy from, just a little click of positive review. I often feel

like no one is going to care what I have to say. But for this article I'm

going to hope that maybe, just maybe someone will be interested in my

opinion. For the past several years I have been trying to find a way to

make money on the internet. I tried a pyramid scheme years ago not

knowing really what it was. I tried to buy and sell gold. I tried to buy

and sell forgein money. I spent longer than anyone really should trying to

make real estate work for me. And yes, I even tried to have my own

store on ebay. And through all of this, I didn't make money. Okay, to

be honest, I did make money on ebay, apporximately $30 a month after

fees. But all in all, I sank over $3'000 into trying to make money over a

9 year time frame. It's not alot of money considering the time frame,

but please understand that it would have been more if I had not spent so

much time inbetween new ventures, working on the one that I had most

recently purchased. I worked hard to make the programs work. I know

that there is no get rich quick scheme that works. And what I am trying

to tell you about today, isn't a get rich quick scheme. It's a "work hard

and smart and get paid for your work" scheme. A few months ago I was ready to try out another new way to

make money online. I wanted to make money by writing. I used to write

a newspaper column and I really loved it. But was it possible to get paid

for writing online? I found out soon enough the answer is yes! I found a

program that works on the first try! I don't want to sound like I'm

advertising for their company here. I'm just so happy with the results

that I had to share. Here's the thing, if you don't enjoy writing, this

isn't for you. If you can't spend 3-4 hours a day online, this isn't for

you. But if you want a real income, a really good income, working a 3-4

hours a day, sitting at home, where you don't have to dress up or wear

makeup, then this is a program for you.You will make money. They have

very clear and easy to understand directions, you can do this. I'm a

mother of 4, married to a military man, and I did this, I still do this.

Please try it, it was $30 that changed my life. For the first time, in a

long time I feel like I'm making a difference for my family. You can

make money online, by writing for online companies, just like I do,

everyday. It's not alot of money, and if I can do it, anyone can. Check

them out at http://www.productsupplycenter.com/web67007/ just copy

How to publish your own articles without writing them by Lambert Klein

So you just don't have the time, or desire to write articles that can increase visitors to your site as well as your income? Well don't feel alone. Most people find this to be as much fun as washing dishes.

What is a Ghost Writer?

A ghost writer is someone that nobody really hears about. They use their skills to write articles for others.

Ghost writers are paid to write articles that are officially credited to others.

Often people either don't have the time, the desire or skills to write articles themselves. This is where a Ghost Writer's duties will be needed.

In essence, someone writes an article for you for a price and then you take credit for the article and may use it as you wish.

Thank goodness for Ghostwriters. They seem to be able to write on any subject and are willing to do this chore for a fee. They may be up all night researching, typing and editing article after article. How do you find a Ghostwriter? There are services you can hire that will outsource them without you having any contact with them yourself. Sometimes this can work out ok. It depends on who is writing the articles for you at the time and your expectations.

Another route is finding a freelance Ghostwriter that you will communicate with directly. If you find a good one then you will feel confident that you can always contact him again. No guessing games, you know the quality to expect.

Another thing to consider is cost. How much will it cost you per article and is the cost worth it to you. The prices for articles can vary quite a bit. If the price is very low than the quality may be also, unless the Ghostwriter is just starting out and trying to get established. Once a Ghostwriter is well known, the price per article will usually go up some.

Whichever route you choose, be sure that the article content will be original. Make sure that this is clear up front. You don't want your article to be sold to anyone else. This should never happen if the Ghostwriter has integrity and is honest.

You may want to ask around for recommendations for an article writer on various forums or a search engine.

In conclusion, decide if you want to use a service or an individual to write articles for you. What are you willing to pay and what do you expect back from your Ghostwriter? Once you find a great Ghostwriter you will want to keep in contact with him for future work. It's not always easy to find the one that is just right for your situation.

The benefits for you are more visitors to your website, more sales, and higher rankings.

Article Writing Service by Erica Williams

An article writing service can be very hard to find. There are so many people online looking for writing positions without the appropriate experience and qualification. But, finding the right writer can approve your Business including; conversation rates, sales, etc.

What if you need a SEO writer that can improve your search engine rankings? An inexperienced writer with low writing skills cannot provide this service for you. Here is what to look for when hiring your next writer:

1.Hire a writer who has a website that showcases their writing potential. Anyone can say they are a writer, but without any proof, you should not take their word for it. Any writer who takes the time to prepare a good website and samples of their work provides creditability.

2.Take a good look at the writing samples; a seasoned writer will be able to show a plethora of writing styles such as web writing, business plans, web content, newsletter writing, etc. Most experienced writers will show at least 3-4 writing samples.

3.Search for a writing services business instead of a single writer. When looking for a writer, sometimes big things give you large results.

A large writing services business is more trustworthy than hiring a freelancer because they can match you with the appropriate writer for your specific project. A writing services business will also offer discounts for first time clients.

4.Never get with a writing service that has ‘pay now’ options. These are usually scams and will take your money without providing a writer.

In the writing world, there is no such thing as providing a set price because there are a lot of elements involved; word count, amount of researched needed, type of writing, etc. Therefore, a custom quote option should be provided for your specific writing assignment.

5.Pick a writing service who offers editing services. This is to ensure that your writing assignment will be covered from small spelling and grammar errors that were not caught before. Most writing companies allow a minimum of 2-3 free editing corrections with each assignment.

6.Last, but not least; stay away from freelance websites! Most people go to freelance websites hoping to hire a cheap writer to assist with writing assignments.

Most freelance websites attract inexperienced writers that have no knowledge of SEO services and other important details to get the job done right. An experienced and seasoned writer would never accept a writing assignment for $3 per article! This is not a good article writing service

Article Marketing for Deep Linking by Jacqui Q

Building Link Architecture with Article Submission and Article Marketing.

Article Marketing is a worthwhile marketing strategy for short-term and long-term website development and search engine optimisation. A well-planned article marketing strategy that maps out its linking strategy prior to article submission will promote your website with search engines and position your website to develop long-term customer leads.

Article marketing is a common marketing strategy used in search engine optimisation and website promotion. However, article marketing strategies are varied and plentiful. Developing a well-thought out article submission strategy before submitting your articles to article submission directories, blogs, social bookmarking websites and niche websites can enrich your website with a blueprint for success.

An article marketing strategy that consists of randomly submitting duplicate articles to article directories and social bookmarking websites without a proper syndication strategy puts your website at risk for being ignored by the search engines. The major search engines will search for the original source of the article submitted to base their search engine results on. A mass-submission strategy of duplicate articles without a syndication strategy also under-optimises the opportunity to develop fresh leads from original, sought-after content. It also under-optimises the link building architecture of your website. Your website’s link building architecture is a primary consideration in the search engine result pages (SERPS) that are presented after a user’s query.

Article marketing has a significant impact on link building architecture. Search engines determine the quality and topic of a website by evaluating each and every internal link and external link. It is your link building architecture that will determine how the search engines conceptualize your website. Article marketing through article submission directories and social bookmarking websites, blogs, and other means, can provide you with links that can build up your deep links as well as your website’s links to your homepage. An article marketing strategy that submits articles to optimise deep linking in the website’s link building architecture will succeed in providing a comprehensive and accurate view of your website to the search engines.

When you are developing your article marketing strategy, write article content that is relevant to a deep-page link. If necessary, prepare your website’s page for optimising the article prior to submitting an article with a link to that page. Submitting articles that lead to deep-linked pages will contribute to your link-building architecture and also provide an avenue for visitor’s to click from those deep links to your home page â€" which is highly likely if they are pleased with your content. Your article marketing strategy can also include article submission for deep-linked pages that offer opt-in programs or sales opportunities.

Article marketing is one of the foundational strategies of search engine optimisation. Carefully planning your article marketing strategy to construct a solid link-building architecture gives a comprehensive view of your website to search engines, creates opportunity for customer lists and sales, and multiplies the probability of gaining new visitors to your website. Article marketing through article submission directories, social bookmarking websites, press releases, contributions to niche websites or niche blogs, is a vital strategy for website promotion and search engine optimisation. Without an article marketing strategy, your website will eventually succumb to low visibility and poor search engine rankings. Article marketing that strategically builds upon your website’s link building architecture, both internally and externally, will lay the framework to get visitors exploring the rooms of your website while your competitors wonder where all the visitors have gone.

Article Marketing and SWOT by marketing, article writing, article submission

Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats in Article Marketing

Article marketing can promote your website and protect your website from competitors. You can strengthen your article marketing strategy by evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in your article submissions.

Article marketing provides you with an opportunity to optimise your website for search engines, promote your website’s visibility, and keep your website strong in the face of competitors. Applying a traditional SWOT analysis to your article marketing strategy can sharpen your strategy to capitalize on opportunities that might have otherwise gone unrecognized. SWOT is the acronym for “strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats” that has been used in business development, organisational development, and competitive marketing strategies for decades. This highly acclaimed strategic method for planning can be applied to your article marketing strategy.

Your article marketing strategy should analyze the strengths of your website, your knowledge and your content. Analyzing your strengths positions you to create content that capitalizes on your greatest strengths and can keep your articles central to your primary content. Your article marketing strategy should also analyze the strengths of your competitor's website. By researching the articles on your competitor’s websites and blogs, the articles submitted to article submission directories, and the topics the competitor typically writes articles on, you can plan to write your content to surpass your competitor and position yourself as the more knowledgeable author.

Analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the websites that you are submitting your articles to is critical to your reputation. Your article marketing strategy should specifically plan to submit articles only to quality websites. If your competitor has a relationship with a link farm, not being everywhere your competitor is will protect your website. It also important to look at your weaknesses and your competitor’s weaknesses. If your competitor has neglected to post pertinent information or has posted incorrect information, capitalize on that opportunity in your article marketing strategy.

Article marketing strategies should always look for opportunity. You should be where your competitor is, (unless they are linked with the wrong crowd), and where your competitor isn’t. You should also look for opportunities to submit articles with sought-after content. Top tens, recent news, sharp or contradicting opinions, how-to’s and reviews always offer opportunity to submit articles. Social bookmarking websites can be researched for popular topics and be made a regular part of your article marketing strategy.

Threats are an unavoidable aspect of an article marketing strategy. New competitors constantly enter the market, and ethical and unethical competition seeps through every link that is posted on the web. Avoiding links that search engines disrespect, keeping up with your competitor’s article marketing strategy, and optimising your website for search engines will add protection to your website’s viability.

Article marketing requires strategic development to optimise its success. Applying the SWOT analysis to your article marketing strategy will serve to refine your article submissions for optimal search engine positioning and website protection. Take the time to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that are an intricate part of your article marketing strategy, and your marketing will surpass your competitors and reach search engine success.

Submit To Article Directories with a Checklist by Terry Detty

With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based website marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is why internet article writing, website submissions and publications are also getting popular.

There are already many internet advertising tools that people can use to make the process of distributing their articles more easily. Even though this is invaluable in getting the contents more click exposure, this is only half of the story.

Let us take a look first at the common mistakes that some people make before submitting their contents to article directories:

1. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them. In article writing, there are three key benefits why you are promoting them; branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization efforts. But there is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform your audience of what will help them.

If the article is not focused on this primary and most important purpose, it will fail to achieve the three promotion benefits because no one will be interested in reading them. You need to figure out first how to get people to read what is in your article, then make them click on your resource box. You can achieve this by producing better content.

2. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing. You may know already that your articles can help you generate additional links back to your site. But do you know that you can get more visitors and better search engine results from that same articles?

Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them. Some are even using anchor texts which is also an effective method. But it is important to know that majority of the directories are not able to support this.

Remember that is not only about the links back to your site. Part of doing well in your article marketing is getting picked up by publishers with a large number of audiences and gaining the ability of leveraging other brands because of the quality of your work. Better search engine results also are great benefits.

But these things do not put much money in your pocket. There are other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into an opportunity that can boost your earnings. Not just increase the number of visitors to your site.

Start out with a plan and see to it that your article will serve the function that you intended it to have.

3. Publishing content that does not help your readers. Maybe in the process of writing articles, you are thinking that all that is you wanted is links back to your site. And any visitors it can generate are fine.

Guess what? Not all article banks and website directories are going to accept your content automatically. Oftentimes, they have some guidelines and specifications on the articles that they are accepting.

You can double the number of sites you can submit to by writing articles that the directories want to share with other people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience overnight.

Write the articles that publishers want in their publications if you want your article marketing to work the most effective way for you. This also means you have to obey the standard guidelines, spell checks, researching on a good topic and even hiring a writer to produce a good content on your behalf.

In the end, it is all really a matter of choice on your part. You can start getting a little exposure from increased links back but on a very basic level. Or enjoy massive exposure from a little extra time making quality contents.

It will be your choice. You may not be aware of the fact that an article submitted on directories is not meant to have the same level of exposure as highly-targeted content ones geared on a narrow group of people.

Learn the difference between these two and it will surely help you know what kinds of articles to write and to submit.
